‘Europa Ko Kaibigan ko Ito’ mounted for Filipino kids on 24 May 2018
It’s time for kids to share their artworks beyond the classroom!
As part of the Viva Europa Festival 2018, the EU Delegation to the Philippines in partnership with Museo Pambata will hold the “Europa, Kaibigan Ko Ito” (Europe, My Friend and My partner), an on-the spot-drawing contest on the 24th of May at the Museo Pambata, Manila.
European Union Ambassador Franz Jessen said that the contest encourages children to showcase the European Union and the Philippines’ shared partnership, history, culture, and traditions through their artworks.

The art contest will include a workshop in the morning led by illustrator and graphic designer Angela Taguiang with visual artist-slash-art teacher Rex Aguilar—both members of the children’s book illustrators group Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK).
A total of five winners will be chosen from the entries, and each will receive a trophy and a medal plus special prizes and freebies from the EU Delegation to the Philippines. Winning artworks will be exhibited at the Museo Pambata during the week following the awarding ceremony.
Criteria for judging include relevance to the theme (50%), technique (25%), and composition (25%). Kids will be given three hours to work on the spot with the medium and materials provided (pastel colors on illustration board measuring 18” x 24”). The panel of judges will include members of Ang INK, self-published author Arli Pagaduan, and PBBY Wordless Book Prize grand winner Rev Cruz.
Mounted in cooperation with Dong-A, with the support of Maynilad and Universal Robina Corporation, the contest is open to all Filipino children aged 9 to 12 years old and are enrolled in public or private schools in Metro Manila.
