Last, March 21, 2018, Philippine Primer was invited by BigDish to try out different restaurants that deserve everyone’s attention.

    First Stop: Pink Panda

Southeast Asian food is known for packing every flavor into each dish, from salty to sweet and everything in between. Get this taste of Southeast Asian fusion cuisine when you visit Erwan Heussaff and the Hatch 22 group’s Pink Panda. We were treated to various dim sum such as siomai and hakaw, as well as their fried spring rolls, laksa, sisig siopao, and tamarind chicken. Aside from their food, they are also known for their alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Second Stop: Crying Tiger Street Kitchen

Located along Guanzon Street is a place where you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to the busy streets of Thailand: Crying Tiger Street Kitchen. They offer authentic Thailand street food, which tourists are always raving about. Crying Tiger is inconspicuous and an al fresco dining spot from the same group who brought you El Chupacabra. We were welcomed by their refreshing Thai Iced tea (Php 95), followed by Asian favorites Mee Goreng (Php 225) and Pad Thai Woon Sen (Php 225). They use Thai stir-fried glass noodles in their Pad Thai and Mee Goreng compared to the other restaurants who use flat rice noodles.

    Third Stop: Kite Kebab Bar

By the time we head to our third stop, we could already feel our stomachs getting full yet we were ready to take on the challenge to finish this Pobcrawl (Poblacion crawl).

Burgos Street is a rising pub known for the famous restaurant located in this neighborhood. Kite Kebab Bar is owned by tv personality Kian Kazemi, who, through his travels to different countries, inspired him to open up his own food tavern. Kite Kebab offers Mediterranean street food at an affordable price. It has a no-frills menu with a promise of authentic flavors packed in each bite. A lot of food was served as well as shots to keep us going. We were able to feast on their Classic Beef Kebab (Php 139), Classic Chicken Kebab (Php 129) and much more.

    Fourth Stop: Bucky’s

Everyone was excited to finally have some dessert, having vanquished three delightful restaurants in a matter of hours. Making our way to one of the most popular hubs in Poblacion, Bucky’s is a dessert place everyone shouldn’t miss out. This rabbit hole is known for their soft-serve ice cream made with pure carabao’s milk. If you’re looking for a place to cool down this summer, Bucky’s will chill you with their soft-serve treats. We were able to get our hands on their Original Parfait (Php 200) and Original Buckygato (Php 200).

    Last Stop: Pura Vida

By the time we got to Pura Vida, we knew that we were too full and needed some drinks; to our surprise, there was another set of food. The fear of getting too full didn’t stop us, so we continued on. We devoured like beasts, making sure to try everything up to the very last drop of our cocktails.

Pura Vida is a Reggae bar that serves Costa Rican cuisine. It is one of the most popular hang-out spots for drinkers and night owls. They make sure that the customers have a true Costa Rican experience through their natural flavors and ingredients that are all made from scratch.

We knew we had to taste their authentic Costa Rican dishes before we closed the curtain on our food crawl. We were treated to a spread of different Costa Rican food like Ceviche De Tiqueza (Php 250) and a platter of their Enyucados, Patacones, Chifrijo, and Chicharonnes Con Yuca.
