  • Have Family Fun and Eat Like A Local in Hong Kong
  • Traveling to another country is all about seeing the places you’ve only dreamt about and trying the variety of local authentic dishes. When you travel to Hong Kong, what automatically registers in mind is to head over to the nearest dai pai dong and grab a plate of sweet and sour pork or a bowl of sago and coconut, but Asia’s World City has more to offer than just what it’s best known for.

On your next trip to Hong Kong, do what celebrity and blogger Kelly Misa-Fernandez, together with her father-son duo, did and keep these local stores and restaurants listed in your itinerary.

If you’ve never experienced eating in a cha chaan teng, then don’t miss the chance to do so. Lan Fong Yuen is the place to go to for milk tea, accompanied with pork buns and French toast. Kelly and her family ordered the “traditional breakfast,” which is composed of instant noodles and luncheon meat, which was topped off with egg. Ironic to what it’s called, this meal is available at any time of the day.

Craving for some Italian? Jamie’s Italian got you covered! There’s no need to travel all the way to Italy because this restaurant offers nothing but authentic meals you’ll see people eating in Italy anyway. Everyone who eats here should try their signature dishes such as Tagliatelle Bolognese and Rib-eye Steak. After the scrumptious dinner, finish it off with a variety of Italian dessert.

Known as one of Hong Kong’s oldest tea houses, Lin Heung Tea House will make you feel like traveling back in time, not only because it serves the most traditional dim sum in town, but also because they are served in dim sum carts pushed by its staff. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone—you get to taste the most traditional of dim sum dishes as well as get a taste of Hong Kong’s history.

Dim Sum Icon offers a modern take on traditional dim sum. Just like Kelly’s son, Tristan, your kids will definitely enjoy seeing their favorite cartoon characters like Spongebob Squarepants and Garfield not only as decorations in the restaurant but also on the dishes themselves!

Satisfy your sweet tooth at Givrés, where Artisan Coffee meets Gelato Roses. May it be a rose affogato, a floating rose, or a waffle topped with one, only here will you be able to get a taste of handcrafted rose-shaped gelato roses in the whole of Hong Kong.

Nothing beats any vacation spent with family. But going on food trips altogether will definitely make it even better!

This is a press release from the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
