  • PH passport continues to climb global rankings
  • It may only be a small move, but the Philippine passport continues to improve its rank.

68 or 72? At this point, it doesn’t really matter. We’ve got visa-free access to more than 60 countries as of 2018, and the Passport Indexes show that our rank has gone up.

Arton Capital and Henley and Partners both ranked the Philippine passport higher in 2018. Arton Capital’s passport index gave the country’s passport a visa-free score (VFS) of 62, putting it in 68th place alongside Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Henley And Partners, on the other hand, had the Philippine passport at rank 72 with a VFS of 63. This puts the Philippine passport at the same level as Azerbaijan, Cape Verde, Cuba, and our neighbor Indonesia.

German passport holders still have the most powerful passport in their pockets, granting visa-free access to 177 countries. Arton Capital has them at a VFS of 161.

Singapore and Switzerland came in second, providing visa-free access to 176 countries according to Henley and Partners. Arton Capital, on the other hand, has Singapore at a VFS of 160 (good enough for rank 2), while Switzerland falls to rank 4 with a VFS of 158.

STILL AT THE TOP OF SOUTHEAST ASIA. A Singapore passport is still the most powerful passport in Southeast Asia, as well as the rest of the continent./IMAGE 2018 Henley Index Passport Ranking

This makes Singapore the most powerful passport in Asia, though who you compare it against will change based on the passport index you want to look at. Henley and Partners has it as the strongest in the continent, while Arton Capital has it at the same rank as South Korea.
