  • The SM Store, PayMaya partner up for cashless payments
  • People now have greater options for convenient shopping after The SM Store and PayMaya Philippines sealed a partnership to deliver a whole new level of cashless shopping experience to shoppers.

PayMaya Philippines, owned by PLDT Inc., already rolled out its QR-based payment system in all The SM Store branches in the country in December 2017. The system was formally launched on January 17.

Shoppers can now simply use their PayMaya app and scan the special QR codes at the Mobile Pay lane at The SM Store to complete their purchase without taking out cash.

As an introductory promotion, shoppers can also get a 10% rebate of up to Php 100 per The SM Store branch per day when they use the PayMaya QR from January 15 to April 15, 2018.

This new partnership of The SM Store and PayMaya supports the vision of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) which also recently introduced the National Retail Payment System initiative. This aims to increase the share of electronic transactions in the Philippines by 20% in 2020.
