New Tax reform bill to take effect in 2018
The latest tax reform package in the Philippines has been approved by the Senate, and is set to take effect in January 2018. In this tax reform, those with an annual income of Php 250,000 and below will be exempted from tax. This new tax reform will also have lower income tax rates for with an annual income of Php 2 million and below. As per CNN Philippines’ report, the bill retains the Php 82,000 tax exemption for bonuses and 13th month pay.
The Senate and House of Representatives have since agreed to increase the 13th month pay tax exemption to Php 90,000. The move is not yet final until both approve the bicameral version of the bill.
Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters arrives in Manila
The newly-crowned Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters recently visited Manila along with other candidates, as their first official tour after the pageant. They are set to visit other towns in the Philippines such as Vigan, Batanes, Camiguin, and Bohol. Their first stop was in Manila where they visited the historic Luneta Park and Intramuros.
PNP to deploy 10,000 police officers in Manila
To monitor the public safety this holiday season, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed 10,000 police officers in Metro Manila. These officers will be part of the highway patrol group to monitor roads, public utility vehicles, and assistance in transport terminals and malls during the Christmas season.
PH wins in Miss Tourism International 2017 pageant

Yet another beauty queen from the Philippines shines above all, as Jannie Alipo-on is crowned as Miss Tourism International 2017. Alipo-on, who competed in Malaysia, bested 49 others in the said pageant.
