  • Here’s a recap of the news that happened this week in the Philippines.

    South Korea grant visa-free entry to Filipinos for Winter Olympics

    South Korea will temporarily allow visa-free entry to the country in time for the 2018 Winter Olympics. Visitors from the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam will be allowed to go to South Korea without visa through Yangyang International Airport only. This visa-free travel will be allowed until April 2018 for the Pyeongchang Winter Games.

    PH wins titles in international beauty pageants

     

    Two beauty queens from the Philippines each won an award in international pageants. Karen Ibasco was crowned as Miss Earth 2017, while actress Winwyn Marquez was hailed Reina Hispanoamericana 2017. Marquez is also the first Filipina to compete and win in the said pageant that celebrates Hispanic heritage. Ibasco, on the other hand, is the fourth Filipina to be crowned Miss Earth.

    5 Filipino films to be shown in Indian film fest

    Five films from the Philippines are to be shown at the 3rd All Lights India International Film Festival in Hyderabad. The film fest will run from December 2 to 6, which includes films such as Area by Louie Ignacio, Die Beautiful, Bwakaw, Barber’s Tales, and Anino sa Likod ng Buwan by Jun Robles Lana.

    PH designers to dress ASEAN leaders, spouses

     

    In a report by Inquirer, renowned Filipino designers namely Rajo Laurel, Albert Andrade, and Randy Ortiz were said to be the ones creating the Barong Tagalog and Filipiniana gowns to be worn by ASEAN leaders and their spouses. The dresses are to be worn during the gala dinner at the ASEAN event happening in SMX Convention Center on November 12.
