Wine Tasting Appreciation Night held to celebrate upcoming ‘Soiree Beaujolais’
For the upcoming celebration of the 27th Soiree Beaujolais happening on November 24, 2017, the French Chamber of Commerce Industries in the Philippines held a night of wine appreciation at the Seawall Garden in Sofitel Philippine Plaza last November 7, 2017.
During the event, a talk was given by Mr. Fleur, owner of La Cellier, and the official wine partner of the Soiree Beaujolais. During the talk, Mr. Fleur discussed the history of wine, difference of Terroir and Appelation, French wine regions, and the Beaujolais Noveau (red wine) that will be opened on the actual day of the soiree itself happening on November 24, 2017. He also discussed tips on how to properly taste wine that include looking, smelling, tasting and concluding. Lastly, the audience also participated through the tasting of the Fleurie and Chardonnay wines.
According to Mr. Fleur, the Beaujolais Nouveau is a kind of wine from the Burgundy region of France that only has a limited time to fully consume. Its production is relatively a recent one that only started in the 16th century, and only became popular from the 17th century onwards. Beaujolais Nouveau is a celebration of the end of harvest, considered to be the only white wine that happens to be red and, a young wine which is easy to drink and is concentrated on fruits. However, in order for all winegrowers to harmonize their wine sales, the date of the third Thursday of November has been declared in 1985 as the only and official day for the uncorking of the said wine.
This coming November 24, 2017 the Soiree Beaujolais will take place at the Harbor Garden Tent of the Sofitel Phillipine Plaza where guests are invited to enjoy the night as they toast with the uncorking of the Beaujolais Nouveau which came all the way from France. In addition, this night will bear testament to the French’s ability to party by delighting its guests with surprise entertainment numbers, free flowing wine, cheese, and charcuterie imported from France, outstanding and flavorful French cuisine by Sofitel Philippine Plaza, and an all out after party for everyone to enjoy.
