  • Last October 14, 2017, the American Women’s Club of the Philippines (AWCP) celebrated its annual charity ball with a Halloween theme at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City for the beneficiary of Kalipay Negrense, an orphanage that fosters children in Bacolod City, Philippines.

Being the second Halloween themed event, instead of being just a plain ball, the event transformed itself into a spooky yet definitely meaningful and fun party. Members and attendees showed up all spooktacular and extravagant costumes.

Every year, AWCP chooses one charity to be the main beneficiary of this event. This 2017, they chose Kalipay Negrense, a non-profit foundation working for the causes of disadvantaged children – the homeless, physically and sexually abused, malnourished, out of school and special children in Bacolod City, Philippines

The event started with a game of head or tails headed by the Ring Master herself, Ms. Deanna Rector, Chair for the event. Aside from the fun-filled icebreaker, the program also included a silent auction.

A lot of the items in the silent auction were donated by AWCP members; some of them were from companies around the Philippines. There are travel services, hotel accommodations, paintings, wines and furniture that are all up for bidding. Some of the “best in costume awardee” however include Maleficent, the Cheshire Cat, the Gladiator, the Mad Hatter and the Dead Bride.

Guests enjoyed the dance floor all night, some of them even got the best luck of the night to the event’s raffle prizes.
