MMDA announces Unified Mall Hours starting October 15, 2017
In an effort to alleviate heavier traffic jams during the Christmas season, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) together with a number of mall owners and operators have agreed to change mall operating time from the original business hours of 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, changing it to 11:00 am to 11:00 pm which will be effective starting on October 15, 2017 to January 15, 2018.

MMDA Assistant General Manager for Planning, Jojo Garcia said in addition to the late opening of malls, deliveries shall only be from 11:00 pm until 5:00 am the next day to lessen delivery vehicles traversing the road during rush hours. In addition, MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim said that through these measures, it would help reduce traffic congestion, especially during payday Friday.
During the meeting organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), there were also a number of representatives from Ayala Malls, SM Supermalls, Robinson’s, Starmall, Shangri-La, and Rockwell who was present that time. This move is seen as beneficial both for the public and the mall business for the Christmas season is fast approaching, and traffic within the metro is deemed uncontrollable.
