A Tasting Flight at Monopole Wine Bar in Makati

Amid the coffee shops scattered all over Makati’s central business district, Monopole offers a different kind of hang-out experience with its huge selection of fine wines.

The owner himself, Jojo Madrid, is a very passionate connoisseur of wine. Just last Friday, August 4, he led an informal wine tasting event that also served as a crash course, with him sharing tons of interesting facts about wine that he apparently knows by heart.

The event was very intimate, with just a few invited guests who are equally interested in but not as expert in wine as Madrid is. Different kinds of wine, from champagne to sparkling, red and white wine, were presented to the guests.

Located on Carlos Palanca Street in Makati, Monopole becomes especially striking as soon as it lights up in the evening. It is a cozy little place with an elegant ambiance as fine as the wines they serve. They have a wine list of about 300 labels, with a focus on Champagne, Burgundy, Italy, and California.
