One of the Duterte administration’s pet projects is set to become a reality, as Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade said the deal for the Mega Manila Subway has been practically sealed between Japan and the Philippines.

Tugade said that President Rodrigo Duterte and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe are set to sign the agreement this November during the 31st ASEAN Summit during the 3rd National Congress for the Transport Cooperative Sector in Santiago City, Isabela.
He also said the Php 300-billion deal was agreed upon during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Cambodia in an earlier report. Members of Duterte’s cabinet also presented “DuterteNomics”, the administration’s economic and development plan for the country during the WEF.
Apart from the Mega Manila Subway, he also gave updates on other transportation-related infrastructure projects of the government, including Isabela’s own Cauayan Airport.
“By 2018, your airport–the Cauayan Airport will be expanded, enhanced, and improved to have night-landing capabilities,” he said.
He also talked about the Bicol Express (Manila to Bicol Railways) and a train from Tutuban station to the Clark International Airport, both of which he promised to start and/or complete before the term of Duterte ends in 2022.
