The celebrity chef and host of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown has once again visited Manila to give updates of the upcoming Bourdain Market in New York, at the Dialogue in the World Street Food Congress 2017.

In the WSFC press conference, Bourdain mentioned that sisig (sizzling pork innards) is the breakout dish of the country. “Filipino food is definitely underrated worldwide,” says Bourdain. He also added that the said dish is a necessity in his much-awaited Bourdain Market, a hawker-inspired food hall in New York City to be opened in 2019.

After the dialogue, Bourdain and Makansutra founder KF Seetoh talked to Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo about the Philippine food tourism and the ongoing World Street Food Congress event in the country.

In 2016, Bourdain featured Filipino dishes in his food and travel show Parts Unknown, wherein he discovered balut (fertilized duck egg), sisig, and halo-halo (Filipino dessert).
