  • June 2017 Movie Releases in the Philippines
  • The rainy season has barely started, which gives us more reasons to “stay indoors” (read: go to the cinema and watch a movie). There are upcoming film fests in the horizon, but those won’t come for another month or so (depending on which one you’ve been tracking).

Here’s our pick of the litter for the best movies to catch this June:

    Wonder Woman (Now Showing)

She made the briefest of appearances in the last DC Movie (Batman versus Superman), but that brief appearance was more than enough to give her a shot. Before she was called Wonder Woman, Diana (played by Gal Gadot), princess of the Amazons, was a trained warrior from Themyscira. When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, she leaves home to fight a war to end all wars, discovering her full powers and true destiny.

    The Mummy (June 7)

Not to be confused with the movies headlined by Brendan Frasier, Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy. Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

    Despicable Me 3 (June 14)

The adventures of Gru (Steve Carrell), Lucy (Kristen Wiig), their adorable daughters – Margo, Edith, and Agnes – and the Minions continue in Despicable Me 3. Gru goes up against a villain that’s as tough to beat as he is fashion-backward: Balthazar Bratt (voiced by Emmy, Tony, and Grammy-award winning artist Trey Parker). The movie also reveals a side of Gru that no one has known – not even him.

Transformers: The Last Knight (June 21)

Humans are at war with the Transformers, and Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving the future lies buried in the secrets of the past and the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Now, it’s up to the unlikely alliance of Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Bumblebee, an English lord (Anthony Hopkins) and an Oxford professor (Laura Haddock) to save the world.
