Duterte to visit Russia in May
President Rodrigo Duterte is scheduled to fly to Russia on May 25 to meet with the Russian President Vladimir Putin for the second time.
This was revealed by President Duterte himself during a speech held in Mactan Cebu on March 2. He is set to go to visit Russia with Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Central Command Chief, Major General Oscar Lactao.
Duterte first met Putin, who he considered his “idol,” in November 2016, during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in Peru. It is expected that the two leaders will be able to discuss military cooperation and economic partnership during their meeting in Russia.
President Duterte’s visit was set to happen on May, one of the hottest months in Russia, as it is said that he is not very comfortable to visit there during the colder seasons.
