  • Enjoy Saga-gyu at New World Manila Bay in May 2017
  • Wagyu or Japanese beef is recognized the world over for its look and taste. Cattle in Japan are treated with the utmost care from the moment they are born to the moment they are butchered. Among the many prefectures in Japan that raise cattle for their beef, one stands out for its quality and constant supply: Saga.

ONE OF JAPAN’S FINEST. Saga beef is known for its high-grade glossy marbling and constant supply, it’s one of Japan’s most prized varieties of wagyu.

Saga-gyu or Saga beef is one of the best variants of wagyu anyone can get their hands on. Saga-beef is prized for its fine-grained marbling known as tsuya-sashi (glossy marbling) and the constant supply of Grades 7 – 12 wagyu provided by Saga prefecture.

New World Manila Bay Hotel seeks to introduce Filipinos to this delicious variety of wagyu. For the month of May, foodies from all over the metro can enjoy Saga beef with a Saturday lunch buffet at Market Café.

Their Japanese buffet section will have Saga beef as its centerpiece along with an array of appetizers, sushi, and a build-your-own teppanyaki with stir fry vegetables.

GINZA KIRA’S MASTER CHEF. Chef Akio Shimoyama will lead a contingent of Japanese boutiques on May 6 to serve you Saga beef in as many ways as you can imagine.

SAGA BEEF THREE WAYS. They actually served it in five ways at the Saga Beef media launch, but we liked these three the best: (from top to bottom) Saga beef “tataki”, fruits parfait style, roast Saga beef in baked pie wrap, and the crème de la crème, Saga beef steak.

If, however, you want a full experience of Saga beef, book a Steak and Sake dinner at New World Manila Bay’s The Fireplace on Saturday, May 6 for a sit-down dinner. Boutique producers from across Japan led by Ginza Kira’s own Chef Akio Shimoyama will serve Saga beef in ways you won’t soon forget.

Ginza Kira is located in Tokyo and is one of five restaurants that source Saga beef directly from Saga prefecture.

Hungry? Then make sure you drop by New World Manila Bay Hotel this May to enjoy Japan’s iconic beef.
