  • Japanese products maker, Panasonic Manufacturing Philippines Corp. (PMPC) aims to grow its sales this year by 120 percent as it hopes to hitch a ride on growing consumer spending in the country, its top official said.

    In an interview with The STAR, PMPC president Shinichi Hayashi said it expects growth to continue with the launch of more products.

    In 2016, sales grew 130 percent, exceeding the company’s target.

    Hayashi said this year’s sales goal is conservative.

    “Our 50th year drives us to achieve more and be more as we continuously aim to be innovator and leader in the industry where we operate.The company is ready to meet the needs and demands of our market in the Philippines,” he said.

    “Filipino consumers remain to be our motivation in creating products that would be part in making living easy and convenient for them,” Hayashi added.

    PMPC will launch a series of locally-made “Japan Quality” refrigerator models to commemorate its 50th anniversary in addition to the new models Top Freezer, Bottom Freezers and French door.
    Parent firm Panasonic Corp. is set to mark its 100th year in 2018. It hopes to strengthen its merchandising and marketing strategies in Asia that will include the enhancement of premium products and strengthen their alliance with partners and dealers.
