P&G pilots ‘Angat Kita’ sari-sari store program
Sari-sari store owners will be getting a big boost as consumer product giant Procter and Gamble (P&G) recently signed a contract with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to spearhead a micro-entrepreneurship development program.
Called “Angat Kita”, this program is designed to help sari-sari store owners gain knowledge, develop their business skills, and be given access to their required start-up capital.
One thousand initial participants from the cities of Manila, Makati, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and Quezon city will receive P2,500 worth of products from P&G as a start-up package after they complete a basic merchandising seminar.

P&G signed the deal with DTI last February 2. According to P&G President for Asia Pacific Selling and Market Operations Magesvaran Suranjan, “As a humble enterprise that started small and grew to one of the leading and lasting FMCGs (fast-moving consumer goods) globally, we take seriously our social responsibility to cultivate the next generation of successful entrepreneurs.”
P&G looks to introduce the Angat Kita program by way of its wide distribution network, looking towards having micro-entrepreneurs enroll for the program in DTI’s Negosyo Centers.
