‘Heartbreaks and Healing’ reveals how technology affects Filipino’s relationships
Most Filipinos use technology in both starting and ending their relationships. This was according to a survey done and released by a local online shopping destination, Lazada.
The survey is entitled “Heartbreaks and Healing”, and it aims to investigate how technology affects the way people get together and end their relationships. According to the survey, 58% of the 500 people who were surveyed have admitted to using their mobile phones in breaking up with their partners – may it be through text (29.2%), call (22.3%), or instant messaging (7.4%). 34.7% have ended their relationships in person, while the remaining 6.3% have done so via writing a letter.
Online profiling has also been a significant factor in starting and developing a relationship with someone. 54% of the surveyed bunch said that they have checked someone’s social media profile before they go on a date with them, and 60% of them have admitted to losing interest after they have “stalked” them. Even after their relationship has ended, 52% confessed that they still stalk their exes from time to time.
Couples may have stayed together or have already drifted apart, yet it is still nice that most (40%) of the people wish their exes and past lovers the best this Valentine’s day. There were some who wished for them to get what they deserve, while there are also a number who does not think of them at all.
