  • While the other candidates were in Baguio for a different set of event, select Miss Universe candidates gets to experience the rich culture and hospitality in their recent visit in Davao – hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte.

    Dubbed as “The Land of Promise”, the international beauties were able to see the promising beauty of Davao and toured the Eden Nature Park and Resort, and spent a few minutes with the Kalumon Performing Ensemble

    The contestants arrived in Davao through two private planes owned by Governor Chavit Singson – one of the main sponsors of the event in the Philippines. To secure the area, 1500 police, army, and air force officers were deployed.

    The Mindanaoan Tapestry Fashion show was also held in SMX Convention Center in Lanang where the candidates showcased the weavings of Bagobo and Mandaya Tribes through 80 gowns by Rene Salud and other famous local designers who represent the Fashion Designers Guild of Davao (FDGD).

    Pageant host Steve Harvey and guests of Miss Universe pageant are scheduled to arrive in the Philippines this week, according to Tourism Undersecretary, Kat De Castro.
