PAL launches direct Cebu-Singapore flights

The country’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines, has now launched direct flights between Cebu and Singapore. The opening of the new route, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT), is a part of their goal to open more secondary gateways in the country.

DOT Secretary Wanda Teo said that since the country is an archipelago, the most common way visitors can come in and visit is through planes. Through the new gateways, the Philippines is made more accessible to the tourists.

“That is why I consider initiatives like this as a critical to the continuing development of our tourism market. We are opening more gateways and with it, wider access for visitors,” she added. Teo also said that this particular move is expected to boost tourism in Cebu, making it more known to be the gateway to the Visayas region.

Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Antonio Morales was also optimistic that this new gateways may attract more Singaporeans to visit the country.

Flights to Singapore departs at 10PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and will be landing at around 1:45AM of the next day. Meanwhile, planes flying back to Cebu leaves Singapore at 2:45AM on Tuesday, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays, arriving in Manila on the same day, at 6:45AM.

Aside from the Cebu-Singapore route, PAL will also be launching flights from Cebu to Chengdu, China by June of this year.
