According to PGIN, around 700,000 Chinese tourists will be visiting Ilocos Norte and 350,000 of these will be passing through Laoag International Airport (LIA). The arrival of these tourists is said to coinced with China’s “visit ASEAN year.” so the LIA will be preparing for the influx of tourists during this event.

“We are ready in case there are additional flights, security-wise, we are prepared,” said LIA Manager Ronald Estabillo, as the LIA has undergone a renovation to further improve its services to the people. The said improvement includes a high-speed Wi-Fi connection.

Ilocos Norte’s Fort Ilocandia Hotel and Resort is one of the venues of the event. Because of this, Governor Imee Marcos has already met with the hotel owners, as well as the restaurant owners in the province, for them to push through with their preparations. She has also been encouraging developers and contractors in Manila to expand their businesses in Ilocos Norte.

During the last four years, the region has recorded an increasing arrival of both the local and international tourists.
