  • Set to be released in September 2017 is the film Ang Larawan, a musical based on National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin’s A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino.

    The film revolves around 2 sisters (Rachel Alejandro and Joanna Ampil), who lived in pre-war Intramuros, and how they struggle in their financial ruin brought by their father who no longer paints.ccording to its website, Ang Larawan is an “ode to the passing of the world of truth and beauty and a celebration of the tenacity of the spirit amidst the rise of materialism and consumerism.”

    Aside from the Rachel Alejandro and Joanna Ampil, who plays Paula and Candida, respectively, they will also be joined by top Filipino actors like Paulo Avelino, Nonie Buencamino, Aicelle Santos, and Robert Arevalo.

    Ang Larawan will also be featuring the original music of world-renowned composer Ryan Cayabyab and the Philharmonic Orchestra. It is penned by Rolando Tinio, National Artist for Theater and Literature, and directed by award-winning Broadway production designer Loy Arcenas.
