  • ADVISORY: Route and Road Closures for MMFF Parade of Stars
  • The Parade of Star has always been a yearly tradition before the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) season starts. It’s where the casts and the crew of the films roam around the streets of Manila in colourful floats which follow the themes of the movies they are in.

This year’s Parade of Star’s, happening on December 23, will be using a different route; instead of following the Roxas Boulevard route, the parade will be starting at the Manila City Hall and ending at Plaza Miranda in Quiapo.

Because of the upcoming parade, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised motorists to take alternative routes if they will be passing through route. Although the parade won’t be starting until the afternoon, roads will be closed hours before the event starts.

MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago, in an interview with a DZBB radio program, detailed the route of the parade:

    • Manila City Hall along Nicanor Lopez Street
    • Turn right on Taft Avenue
    • Straight to Jones Bridge and Quentin Paredes Street in Chinatown
    • Right to Reina Regente Street
    • Right on Claro Recto Avenue
    • Left to Rizal Avenue
    • Right to Fugoso Street
    • Right to Quezon Boulevard
    • Straight to Plaza Miranda

Bong Nebrija, MMDA supervising operations officer, said that they would also be towing vehicles which are illegally parked in said areas. 11 tow trucks will be deployed on Monday morning to refrain motorists from parking their vehicles along the roads affected.

The films which will be part of the parade are: Ang Babae sa Septic Tank, Saving Sally, Seklusyon, Oro, Die Beautiful, Vince & Kath & James, Kabisera, and Sunday Beauty Queens. The Metro Manila Film Festival will start on Christmas Day and will be screened in various cinemas in the Philippines. (See: Metro Manila Film Fest Lineup)
