  • The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be lifting the Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) – better known as the number coding scheme – for provincial buses on December 22, from 1p.m. onwards. This is in anticipation of the surge of people who will be going to and from their provinces to celebrate the holidays.

In a Facebook post uploaded on Monday, December 12, the agency also announced that they will be suspending the number coding scheme on December 23, 29, and January 2, 2017. Since Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day all happen on the weekends, the number coding scheme will be lifted for everyone.

The Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-Act) will also start implementing its Nose In, Nose Out Policy today. This policy prohibits provincial buses from loading and unloading passengers in areas apart from the loading and unloading stations. This will somehow ease the traffic congestion along EDSA, especially during the rush hour.

Drivers who would violate the said policy will be issued a Uniform Ordinance Violation Receipt for obstruction and disregarding traffic signs with corresponding fines and penalties.
