  • Cebu’s grandest and most distinguished annual festival wins “Best Festival” in the recent Choose Philippines Award held at ABS-CBN Dolphy Theater last December 1 (Thursday).

    The Sinulog Festival is celebrated every January over a 9-day period in honor of Santo Niño, the patron saint of Cebu. The festival is attended by sea of spectators from different regions in the country because of the colorful street pageantry, with participants costumed in vibrant outfits, dancing while following the beat of the drums and gongs.

    Cebu has also bagged awards as “Best Accomodation for Solo Traveller” (Plantation Bay Resort and Spa) and “Best Water Form” (Kawasan Falls).

    Netizens throughout the country and the world submitted their nominations from August-September and was shortlisted by panel of industry experts and travel bloggers. Other nominees for the “Best Festival” categories were the following:

    • Kadayawan Festival in Davao City
    • Panagbenga Festival of Baguio City
    • Masskara Festival of Bacolod City

    Poultry Dish: Max’s fried chicken

    Beef Dish: Rodick’s beef tapa

    Pork Dish: Buffalo Bros baby back ribs

    Vegetable Dish: Kuya J’s Restaurant’s lumpia presko

    Seafood Dish: Shrimp Bucket’s salty eggsperience
