    In a report published by ABS-CBN, the joined forces of UP Pep Squad and UP Filipiniana Dance Group were able to bring home 6 medals at the 2nd Asian Cheerleading and Dancesport Championship held at Jakarta Indonesia last November 26 and 27.

    The squad performs at the halftime of the basketball games of the UP Fighting Maroons in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines and represents the University in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition, where they were the champions for eight non-consecutive years (1999, 2000, 2001, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012)

    According to Prof. Eloi Hernandez, faculty adviser and UP Pep Squad manager who was with them during the competition, the team had won the gold medal in the mixed group category.

    They’ve also won 3 silver medals in the all-female team cheer, cheerdance duo, and cheerdance group categories. Another 2 bronze medal in all-female group stunts and mixed team cheer category as well.

    Their victory qualifies them to the Cheerleading World Championship (CWC) to be held at Takasaki in Japan next year, according to Rappler
