December is greeted by a pair of mall openings as SM Prime Holdings, the country’s largest shopping center operator, opens the doors to its 60th mall: SM City East Ortigas.

In a press release posted on their website, SM Prime President Jeffrey C. Lim said they were “delighted to open SM City East Ortigas just in time for the Christmas holidays. This mall is set to redefine shopping and entertainment particularly in the eastern part of Metro Manila.”
SM City East Ortigas joins SM’s roster of malls in Eastern Metro Manila alongside SM Center Pasig, SM Marikina, and SM Megamall in Mandaluyong. It replaces Ever Gotesco Ortigas, which operated from October 1995 to January 2016.
It’s also the 4th and final SM mall to open this year, following SM-Cherry Congressional in Quezon City, which opened on November 25. Earlier this year, SM opened malls in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan and Trece Martires, Cavite.
The latest SM mall is a two-level mall which will house flagship brands The SM Store and SM Supermarket, along with Uniqlo, Watsons, SM Appliance Center, and Ace Hardware. It will also house SM Cyberzone, Wellness tenants, four digital cinemas, and four Director’s Club cinemas.
80% of its space has already been leased out and ready to accommodate customers within the area, including Miniso, a Japanese fashion and lifestyle brand.
Earlier this week, Ayala Malls opened a new mall in Muntinlupa City, called Ayala Malls South Park.
Check out SM City East Ortigas, located at Ortigas Ave. Ext., Brgy. Sta. Lucia, Pasig City. Regular mall hours are from 10:00 am – 9:00 pm, Monday – Sunday. They close at 10:00 pm for the whole month of December with the exception of December 24 and 31, where they open at 9:00 am and close at 7:00 pm.
