According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), bigger aircraft, like the Airbus 320, can now be accommodated at the Caticlan airport after the expansion of its runway and terminal.

From the previous turbo propeller aircraft, it is now more convenient for travellers and some foreign airlines were already looking forward for international flights at the Caticlan Airport, as it expands to a length of 1,800 meters.

Last November 18, Friday, PALExpress had the inaugural touchdown of it Airbus 320 aircraft at the Caticlan Airport, and will initially operate two flights daily from Manila to Caticlan using the bigger craft. Cebu Pacific is also planning to operate on November 23, Wednesday, while AirAsia is expected to follow soon.

In a news published by Philippine Star, the head of the Department of Tourism Route Development Holdings Corp, Erwin Balane have said that Korean Carriers Jeju Air, Jin Air,  Busan Air and Singapore players; Tiger Air and Silk Air had already expressed their interest in flying red-eye or night flights to Catilclan, but these carriers would not transfer their Kalibo International Aiport to Caticlan, but to focus on capacity to bring in more tourists.
