  • In a report by Manila Bulletin, Department of Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on October 20 (Tuesday) with China National Tourism Administration Chairman Li Jinzao regarding tourism agreement cooperation.

    The said tourism deal is expected to bring in more Chinese tourists to visit the country, as per the Department of Tourism (DOT). The signing will be done in the presence of President Rodrigo Duterte and Xi Jinping.

    According to the data gathered by the DOT, Chinese tourists come in third having 11.95 percent of market share in the Philippines after South Korea and US in January to July 2016. According to Teo, the tourism department is targeting 12 million annual international visitor arrivals in 2022. She will also meet with Chinese tour operators and investors to promote Philippines.
