The course includes 11 lessons covering the basics of developing mobile applications for Android devices, from setting up your computer for app development all the way to distribution of the app.
Each lesson includes a video delivered by a member of Smart’s IT team that lasts between 10-24 minutes. Users can set their own pace, replaying, pausing, or coming back to modules as they see fit.
To access the course, all you need to do is sign up for a free account at e-tesda.gov.ph using your email address. To date, nearly a thousand people have enrolled in the course, some of whom have given positive feedback.
“This online course is a great opportunity especially for people like us who work and don’t have time to attend some classes due to schedule conflicts. This really helps me a lot. Just by sitting in front of my laptop for one to two hours, I gain more knowledge,” said Marrian Vedua.
The free apps development course is part of the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP). This is a long-running program aimed at improving engineering and IT education in the country. Because of SWEEP, Smart was recently cited by international magazine Fortune as one of 50 companies that have “changed the world.”
