10 Filipino films to be shown at Busan Int’l Film Fest
The Busan International Film Festival is one of Asia’s premier film festivals, and the Philippines is well-represented with 10 of our best independent films being shown during the festival which runs until October 15.

The 10 films being shown at the Busan International Film Festival are as follows:
Wide Angle (short films, animation, documentaries, and experimental films)
- Sunday Beauty Queen by Baby Ruth Villarama, Documentary Competition
- The Crescent Rising by Sheron Dayoc, Documentary Competition
- Supot by Phil Giordano, Asian Short Film Competition
- Imago by Raymund Gutierrez, Short Film Showcase
- Amorsolo’s Dream by Brillante Mendoza, included in the omnibus film Art Through Our Eyes
A Window on Asian Cinema (exclusive to Asian filmmakers)
- Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis (A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery) by Lav Diaz
- Singing in Graveyards by Bradley Liew
- Ma’ Rosa by Brillante Mendoza
- Expressway by Ato Bautista
- Woven Wings of Our Children by Anton Juan
The nine delegates for the Philippines have all been flown to Busan, South Korea as of yesterday courtesy of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP). According to FDCP Chair Liza Diño, they would also be hosting a Philippine Night in Busan on October 10, “to celebrate the Filipino films and to introduce them and their directors to the other attendees of the filmfest.”
The Busan International Film Festival started yesterday, October 6, and will run until October 15.
