Application deadline for prestigious Australian scholarships extended
More Filipinos will have the chance to make a difference and contribute to the development of the Philippines as the deadline for the prestigious Australia Awards Scholarships has been moved to 30 November 2016. The scholarship program provides the opportunity for Filipinos to pursue academic interests through fully-funded scholarships to world-renowned Australian Universities.
Since the 1950s, the Australian Government has been offering Filipinos world-class education, leadership opportunities and the potential to meaningfully contribute to the country’s development in the areas of trade and economics, infrastructure development, governance, peace, basic education, human resource management and organisational development, and mining, among others.
“Australia Awards is an integral component of our development assistance to the Philippines. The scholarships program employs a unique approach in ensuring that the knowledge and skills scholars acquire in Australia are applied back home,” said Ambassador Amanda Gorely.
“Returning scholars are required to implement a development project, also called a re-entry action plan or a REAP, in their workplaces or in their chosen beneficiaries, usually local non-profits or non-government organisations,” she explained.
Australia Awards scholars gain internationally-recognised qualifications from Australian universities, develop their knowledge and leadership skills, and join a growing international network of alumni with close links to Australia.
The application process is open and competitive, providing equal opportunity to all eligible citizens regardless of gender, ethnicity and disability. Interested applicants are invited to attend the briefing at the auditorium of the PHIVOLCS Building, C.P. Garcia Avenue, U.P. Campus, Diliman, Quezon City on 5 October 2016, 2:00pm.
