Not much is known about Barangay 143 aside from the fact that it will be about high school basketball players in Manila. What is known is that TV Asahi, the company behind Doraemon, is working with local animation and game development studio Synergy88.
According to an article on Nikkei Asian Review, TV Asahi will be in charge of character design as they will be working closely with Japanese anime directors. Synergy88, on the other hand, will be in charge of production and scriptwriting.
The show will air in 2017 in a primetime slot, making it a big project for both companies to embark in. A local release has not been set as of this time, but there is speculation that it may be taken to Southeast Asian markets after it airs in Japan.
