Partnering with the Natasha Goulbourn Foundation (NGF), DOH unveils the HOPELINE Project, which is a 24/7 phone-based support hotline to any individual suffering from crisis and depression. This HOPELINE Project is part of the health department’s initiative to “bridge gap in the mental health services in the country.”

According to Health Secretary Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial, the health department is very optimistic that they can fully implement HOPELINE. “Finally, there’s a hotline for us to call when we are having psychological and emotional issues,”said Ubial.

As reported by Rappler, the responders for the hotline were trained intensively by psychiatrists and psychologists. These professionals were also screened in terms of their mental capacity, emotional capacity, and educational background. DOH also tapped the help of various local government hospitals and private hospitals where patients can be referred to.

HOPELINE Project’s hotlines can be reached at (02) 804-HOPE (804-467 and 0917-558-444673. For Globe and TM subscribers, you can call their toll-free number at 2919.
