In a post shared by Google Philippines on their Facebook page, a year-long social media campaign called #LovePhilippines aims to spread love for the country, by creating posts about “interesting tidbits about the country, culture, and its people.” According to Manila Bulletin’s report, this is part of Google’s commitment to “equip Filipinos with pieces of information that are relevant to their lives.”
Through these online campaign materials both Filipinos and non-Filipinos can appreciate the culture more. According to Gail Tan, Google Philippines’ Head of Communications and Public Affairs, “we want to bring out these information so that people will be inspired to show the world that the Philippines is a fast developing country with a rich history and colorful culture.”
Aside from the #LovePhilippines campaign, they also have the daily posts using the hashtags #MustTryMonday for posts like recipes to adventure unique to the Philippines, #TriviaTuesday for not-so-well-known facts about the Philippines, #WanderlustWednesday for posts wherein Google gives you a quick tour of the beautiful islands using Street View, #ThrowbackThursday for ”blast from the past” materials, and #FilipinoFriday for things that make Filipinos truly Pinoy.
For their first post, Google Philippines made a gif image of Jose Rizal eating his favourite sweetened santol (cottonfruit) dessert. Follow Google Philippines on Facebook, Google+, and on Twitter and join them in their #LovePhilippines campaign!
