This mega harbor port development project, which is to be put into operation in Davao City, aims to enable Davao to bloom as the capital of East Asia Growth Area (EAGA). Also, according to Mega Harbour Chairman Reghis M. Romero II, this project can help the entire Philippines to take advantage of this strategic location in Southeast Asia. Based on the description of the project, this over 200-hectareport and residential complex will develop four-island projects, 40 meters away from the coast stretching from Agdao to Bucana. It will house port operation, commercial, industrial, and government center.
This project is a joint venture by Mega Harbour Port and Development Inc. and the City of Davao, signed by President Duterte a day before taking his oath on June 29. According to the project architect Nathaniel Romero, this project will create a “well-planned, decent, and self-contained community,” as stated in Inquirer’s report. Also, the project developers are guided by “Green Urbanism,” where environmental and ecological balance is the main consideration. It is also seen to uplift entrepreneurial activities for residents and employment opportunities as well.
The “Global Mindanao” realization will be presented at the 18th Davao Agri Trade Expo 2016 at the SMX Convention Center in SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.
