State-run media only: Duterte to hold inauguration in Malacañang
He made good on his promise. If you’re hoping for a glimpse of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s inauguration, you might want to tune in to state-run People’s Television Network (PTV).
STATE MEDIA ONLY. You might not catch the inauguration of President-elect Duterte on TV live, unless you’re watching it on PTV 4, or the other networks get permission from the state-run network to use their live feed. Photo courtesy of Patrick Roque via Wikimedia Commons.
In a report from the Inquirer.net, incoming Presidential Communications Operation Office (PCOO) head Martin Andanar said only the state-run People’s Television Network (PTV 4) and Presidential Broadcast Staff – Radio Television Malacañang (PBS-RTVM) will be allowed in Rizal Hall on June 30.
According to Andanar, Rizal Hall can only accommodate around 500 guests, most of which will be foreign dignitaries and lawmakers. He added that journalists assigned to cover the inauguration will be given a work station outside Rizal Hall, presumably at the New Executive Building.
All media outfits will have to rely on PTV 4 and RTVM for live feeds of the event.
If, however, you’re privy to watching anything on TV, you might still be able to catch the inauguration on Facebook.
According to a report from ABS-CBN News, Duterte’s communication team met with Elizabeth Hernandez, head of Facebook Public Policy for Asia Pacific earlier this week to discuss details on the upcoming inauguration. If talks push through, this would give the inauguration an unprecedented global audience.
A new Facebook page might be created for President-elect Duterte’s inauguration.
