Traffic Advisory: Road Closures on Quiapo Day
The Feast of the Black Nazarene draws a lot of people to the City of Manila every year. While most of these are devotees, some of the people who will be in Manila are tourists looking to see one of the biggest processions in modern Christendom.
As such, the Manila Police District’s (MPD) Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) has issued an advisory on Monday, January 4 regarding the feast regarding road closures for the event.
According to the advisory, Katigbak Drive and South Drive will be closed starting January 8 at 9:00pm, with only one lane open for those who are headed for/staying at the Manila or the H2O Hotel.
Meanwhile, the stretch of McArthur Bridge, Jones Bridge, and Quezon Bridge will be closed from January 9 at 12:00 midnight until the end of the procession, along with Roxas Boulevard (from Katigbak to Kalaw) and both lanes of Quezon Blvd. in Quiapo, namely Andalucia/Fugoso and España/P. Campa for southbound vehicles and from Taft Avenue for those headed north. Some streets along the route will be closed as the procession approaches, and will be opened once the tail end of the procession has passed.
