Schedule of Holidays in 2016
In charge of planning the perfect holiday getaway in the family? This coming 2016, you might want to mark your calendars for the long weekends. By virtue of Proclamation No. 1105 signed by President Benigno Aquino III, there will be six long weekends, with holidays falling either on a Monday or Friday. Holidays are categorized into regular holidays (fixed dates) and special non-working days.
According to the Official Gazette, the following dates are the holidays for 2016:
January 1 – New Year’s Day
January 2 – Additional non-working holiday
February 8 – Chinese New Year
February 25 – EDSA People Power Revolution
March 24 – Maundy Thursday
March 25 – Good Friday
March 26 – Black Saturday
April 9 – Araw ng Kagitingan
May 1 – Labor Day
June 12 – Independence Day
August 21 – Ninoy Aquino Day
August 29 – National Heroes Day
October 31 – Additional special non-working day
November 1 – All Saints Day
November 30 – Bonifacio Day
December 24 – Additional special non-working day
December 25 – Christmas Day
December 30 – Rizal Day
December 31 – Additional special non-working day
If not in a holiday mood, employees can work on certain dates and earn double during regular holidays and a daily rate multiplied by 1.3 on special non-working days.
