J-pop music is deeply embedded in the hearts of Filipino fans due to the popularity of Japanese Anime and Manga. Recently, Japanese artists have held concerts in Manila and movies of popular anime titles have been screened in local cinemas, both to sold-out seats.  It is a testament to the young Filipinos growing fascination with Japan and its culture.

Now on its 8th year, the 2016 J-pop Anime Singing Contest aims to further promote J-pop, anime, Japanese language and culture appreciation among Filipinos and to strengthen the longstanding friendship between Japan and the Philippines through the common love for J-pop music and anime.

This event is organized by the Embassy of Japan, in cooperation with The Japan Foundation, Manila, (JFM), and with the support of All Nippon Airways, Animation International, Ajinomoto Philippines, Bandai Namco Philippines Inc., Bobson, Canon Information Technologies, Inc., Canon Marketing Philippines,  Center for Pop Music Philippines, HERO TV, Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines, Inc., Lotte Confectionery Pilipinas Corporation, Lyceum of the Philippines University, Manila, Nihongo Center Foundation, Panasonic Philippines Corporation,  SM Cinema, SM Mall of Asia, Sony Philippines, Toei Animation Philippines, Inc., Yakult Philippines, and Yoshinoya.
