PH’s leading french fries business Potato Corner opens first store in HK
Potato Corner, the first and original Flavored French Fries in the Philippines opened its first franchise in Hong Kong last week.
When we see this familiar green and yellow food carts, there’s only one thing we could think of – those mouth-watering, hot, crispy potato strips covered in flavourful powder seasoning that is Potato Corner. It’s everywhere in the Philippines with more than 500 branches in malls, schools, and food courts to be exact. Their cheese, barbecue, and sour cream flavored fries have been a staple snack not only for many Filipinos, but also for some countries like Indonesia, USA, Panama, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and other parts of the world.
And just recently, Hong Kong finally got a taste of this Filipino favorite. According to a report by the ABS-CBN news, lines of up to 60 people form in front of the store in the busy Tsim Sha Tsui district daily and the sour cream and onion flavor is the top seller, store operator Mr. Kam told ABS-CBN News by phone.
“We knew it was going to be a hit, but the lines were quite a surprise,” said Kam. “During the first few days, it was mostly Filipinos, but later there were locals too.”
Potato Corner opened its first outlet in the Philippines in October 1992 and began franchising the year after. The first international outlet was opened in Indonesia in 2006. Soon after this, Americans started enjoying the iconic Cheese, Barbecue, and Sour Cream flavored fries as Potato Corner opened its first USA branch in 2012.
Today, Potato Corner is open for franchise in the Philippines, Indonesia, USA, Panama, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and other parts of the world.
