The Binondo Church has been an iconic place in Chinatown since it was built in 1596. It was constructed for Chinese settlers who converted to Christianity. Its patron saint is San Lorenzo Ruiz, a Filipino martyr of Chinese descent. Mass in this church is usually held in English, Tagalog and Chinese. The church is also known as Minor Basilica of San Lorenzo Ruiz.
