    Hiring a Driver

Driving around Metro Manila can get a little tricky. There are one-way streets and traffic rules that may sound unfamiliar even to locals. One of the solutions is to hire a good driver. Primer has some tips on how to find the best driver for you.

One way of hiring a driver is by a rent-a-car policy. This method is advisable for those who don’t want to drive but want to have their own car when going around Metro Manila.

    What to do:

    • Search for a rent-a-car supplier over the web or by telephone.

    • Choose a car model and negotiate with the manager for the renting duration.

Take note that when leasing a rent-a-car, a personal driver is included. The working days are 5 days a week for 12 hours. Holidays, Sundays and number coding are not included. (For the number coding, please refer to the Car and Traffic Regulations page.)

After reaching at a certain agreement, a contract signing takes place. Prepare a copy of your passport for the validation of the contract. A couple of car rental companies you might want to contact are Click Auto Rental and Budget.com.ph.

Another way of getting a driver is through a driving company.

    What to do:

    • Call a driving company

    • Screen the driver that the company sends

Remember that the base salary of a driver is about P10,000. Having a resume and conducting an interview is a MUST. You may also require a letter of recommendation from a former employer is a big advantage. (Refer to the How to Hire a Housemaid page)

When looking for a good driver, you can check Maidprovider.ph and Megapacific.com.

It is very important that you get as much information as you can about your driver before hiring him. Also, be sure to have his contract notarized to ensure everything is in order. Always put safety first before convenience.
