This announcement was made on January 26, as part of an advisory that detailed the implications of the PLDT-Sky Cable acquisition deal. As a result of this deal, Sky Cable will transition to solely providing internet services.
The company stated that the final broadcast and consequent sign-off of SKYcable will occur on Feb 26, 2024, precisely at 11:59 p.m.
This development follows the Philippine Competition Commission’s approval of the sale of Sky Cable’s broadband business and related assets to PLDT Inc. for Php 6.75 billion.
Sky Cable has also informed that current cable TV subscribers will not incur any charges from Jan 27 until the broadcast ends on Feb 26. Sky Fiber subscribers, however, will continue to receive uninterrupted internet services.
To help subscribers adjust to these changes, the company offers detailed information on how these developments will affect their service. This information is accessible through their website, the 24/7 messaging platform KYLA, or by visiting any SKY Zones and business centers. Subscribers of cable TV plans are especially encouraged to understand the implications of this transition.
