  • A choice ingredient in the fresh produce section, bell peppers are technically a fruit categorized as a vegetable due to is many uses in the kitchen.

    Aside from their sweet and zingy flavor and nice crunch, bell peppers are a versatile ingredient that can be used in salads, cut up and skewered in kebabs, topped on pizzas, or grilled by stuffing them up with your choice of fillings. That’s why we’re showing you today how to spice up your lunch or dinner with this simple, but super yummy dish: Japanese-style stuffed bell peppers.

    Ingredients:
    200g ground pork
    10 pcs green bell peppers, halved and deseeded
    50g white onion, finely chopped
    50g tofu
    3g ginger paste
    1 pinch salt and pepper
    1 tsp cooking oil
    1 tsp Japanese miso
    1 tsp soy sauce
    1 tsp mirin
    1 tsp corn starch
    Japanese basil (optional)

    Cooking directions (Cooking time: 30mins)
    ❶ Wrap the tofu in a paper towel to reduce moisture content.
    ❷ Mix the ground pork with the seasonings in a bowl.
    ❸Stuff the ground pork mixture into the green bell peppers. Wrap it with Japanese basil (optional).
    ❹ Heat oil in a pan, then start pan grill the stuffed bell peppers.
    ❺ Serve with complimentary side dishes such as grilled corn or steamed rice.

    Cooking tips:
    *Stuff the bell peppers with the ground pork mixture to the brim as the filling shrinks while being cooked.
    * You can prevent the filling from falling off by lightly covering the insides of the bell peppers with flour before stuffing.
