PH films get international screenings

  • Filipino films continue to break through the international film industry as five local films will be screened in Vietnam this November, while four local films will be shown in Laos by December.

    In a report published by Philippine Daily Inquirer, the 5th Hanoi International Film Festival in Vietnam will feature 5 Filipino films competing in different categories from November  1 to 5, 2016. Pamilya Ordinaryo directed by Eduardo Roy Jr. is under the feature film category and is competing against 11 other entries.

    For the short film category, Sibol by Mikee de la Cruz is against 29 other films for the top award. On the other hand, two other Filipino films: Lawrence Fajardo’s Imbisibol and King Palisoc’s Tandem are included in the World Panorama section. Water Lemon by Lemuel Lorca is also selected for the Asean Cinema program.

    Meanwhile, according to a press release from lpfilmfest.org, four Filipino films are included in the lineup of the 7th Luang Prabang Film Festival on December 2 to 7, 2016 in Laos.

    These local films include Ma’ Rosa by Brillante Ma. Mendoza, Apocalypse Child by Mario Cornejo,  #Walang Forever by Dan Villegas, and Hamog by Ralston Jover.

    In this film festival, the Philippines will also take the spotlight program with a whole day screening and discussion of Philippine features and short films showcasing the country’s exciting and rapid development in film production.
