  • The Department of Tourism (DOT) is planning to revamp the tourism slogan of the country with the turn of the new administration. According to the Department, the said slogan-change aims to show and reflect the reforms, platforms, and advocacies that the Duterte administration wants to implement in the country.

    DOT secretary Wanda Teo, in an article released by the Philippines Star, said that a change in tourism brands usually happens when a new administration takes over.

    Tourism media director Ina Zara-Loyola also stated that the new marketing slogan that they are planning to work on will reflect the “thrusts” and changes that will happen during President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s administration.

    However, there are also some who do not approve of the proposed change. Cebu Association of Tour Operators (CATO) President Edilberto Mendoza Jr. said that it will be hard to introduce new tourism brandings to the international market. “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” a slogan launched during President Aquino’s administration in 2012 is said to be most effective slogan since it has been known locally and internationally.

    Zara-Loyola assures that the Department will be consulting with their partners to make sure that both sides have been heard before making a decision. DOT is planning to launch the new campaign by 2017.
