  • Ride-hailing app Grab now offers the first instant messaging platform that lets drivers and passengers communicate for free.

    Named as GrabChat, this seamless form of in-app feature is an instant messaging feature wherein drivers can send template messages to passengers with just one tap. By providing template messages, it can make a convenient message system both for drivers and passengers as well.

    Templates such as “Are you nearby?” which can help gauge estimated time make it easier to communicate without using your own load. Through this messaging platform, you can also send tips to the drivers with regard to going to your destination easily. This in-app communication is also free, so you will not be charged for calling or texting a foreign number.

    To use GrabChat, follow these steps:

    1. Update your Grab app to the latest version.
    2. Open the Grab app.
    3. Make a GrabTaxi or GrabCar booking.
    4. Tap the Chat icon in the “Driver on the way” screen.
    5. Send your driver a friendly message.

    Update now and help yourself with GrabChat!
