Starbucks Opens First Pet-Friendly Branch in the Philippines at McKinley West
Starbucks Philippines has opened its first pet-friendly branch in the country at The Shoppes at McKinley West in Taguig, giving pet owners a place where they can enjoy their favorite Starbucks drinks while spending time with their furry companions.
Located on the Upper Ground Floor of The Shoppes at McKinley West, the branch features a dedicated outdoor Pet Zone designed specifically for guests visiting with their pets. While animals are not permitted inside the café itself, owners can stay with them in the designated outdoor area.

The Pet Zone welcomes cats and small to medium-sized dogs measuring up to 50 cm. Starbucks may determine whether a pet meets the size requirement before allowing entry.

Before visiting the area, pet owners must have a Digital Pet Pass, which can be accessed through the MEGAN App. Their pet’s mall registration and vaccination records must also be updated, as entry may be refused if the necessary requirements are incomplete. Guests may also approach the Mall Concierge for assistance with their Pet Pass before entering the zone.

To keep the space safe and comfortable for everyone, pets must remain on a short leash measuring up to 0.5 meters, or be placed inside a stroller or carrier. Pets are also required to wear a diaper, while only calm and friendly animals should be brought into the area.
Owners are expected to stay close to their pets and supervise them throughout their visit, particularly when interacting with other animals and guests. They should also bring their own waste bags and wet wipes and immediately clean up after their pets using the designated bins.
Dining arrangements are also slightly different inside the Pet Zone. Takeout containers and disposable utensils should be used in the outdoor area, while the café’s ceramic cups, plates, and utensils are reserved for guests dining inside the café.
Visitors are also reminded to ask the owner before touching or feeding another guest’s pet. Children should remain close to an accompanying adult to help keep interactions with animals safe and gentle.
Guests visiting with pets should proceed through the mall’s designated Pet Zone access route at the Main Mall Entrance, rather than bringing their pets through the café’s pet-free entrance.
The Pet Zone forms part of The Shoppes at McKinley West’s pet-welcoming environment, with pet owners remaining responsible for their animals throughout their stay. Starbucks also notes that it will not be liable for injury, loss, or damage caused by or arising from pets on the premises.
